Where Recovery Begins
Medical Detox
Medical detox, clinically known as withdrawal management, is the critical first step on the path to recovery: clearing the body of substances safely, under medical supervision, so the deeper work of treatment can begin.
At Everwell Recovery, detox is designed to be as safe and as comfortable as possible. The program is built as medically supervised withdrawal management, aligned with ASAM criteria for medically managed withdrawal (Level 3.7-WM). Clinical staff follow evidence-based protocols, with medications used when clinically indicated, including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), to ease symptoms and reduce risk.
Detox happens in the same calm, home-like residence as the rest of your care, not a hospital ward. Rest, nutrition, and quiet matter during withdrawal, and the program is built around them.
Your Detox Journey
Days 1-2
Intake & Stabilization
A thorough clinical assessment covering substance history, medical needs, and co-occurring conditions shapes a personalized withdrawal management protocol from the first hours.
Days 3-5
Active Detox
Withdrawal symptoms typically peak in this window. Clinical staff monitor around the clock, adjusting comfort medications and support as your body stabilizes.
Days 6-10
Stabilization & Transition
As symptoms ease, the focus shifts forward: rebuilding strength and preparing a smooth handoff into residential treatment.
Our Clinical Approach
Continuous Clinical Care
Our program is built on a 24/7 clinical care model, so withdrawal is never managed alone or unmonitored.
Medication Management
Evidence-based comfort and stabilization medications, including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), used when clinically indicated and always under supervision.
Comfort-First Setting
Private, residential surroundings, chef-prepared meals, and quiet spaces, because the conditions of withdrawal shape the experience of it.
Ongoing Assessment
Withdrawal management timelines differ by substance and by person. Care plans are reassessed daily and adjusted to what your body actually needs.
Continuing Your Journey
What Comes Next
Detox addresses physical dependence; it is the beginning of treatment, not the whole of it. Most clients transition directly into our residential program, where therapy, group work, and wellness practices take over the momentum detox creates.

How long does detox take?
It varies with the substance, the severity of dependence, and individual health factors, typically between 3 and 10 days. Your care team assesses your needs and gives you a personalized timeline, then adjusts it as your body responds.
Is detox painful?
Withdrawal is uncomfortable, but it does not have to be unmanaged. Medications, round-the-clock monitoring, rest, and nutrition are all used to keep you as safe and as comfortable as possible.
Which substances does Everwell detox from?
Alcohol, opioids (including fentanyl and heroin), benzodiazepines, cocaine, and methamphetamine, along with co-occurring mental health needs (dual diagnosis).
