Puppy Yoga
Some of recovery is hard clinical work. Some of it is remembering that life can feel good again. Puppy yoga pairs a gentle, all-levels yoga session with friendly puppies loose in the room, and it is exactly as joyful as it sounds.

What This Work Looks Like
What a Session Looks Like
An instructor leads easy, beginner-friendly movement while puppies wander between mats, interrupt poses, and generally steal the show. Laughing mid-class is not a failure of the exercise; it is the point of it.
Clinical detail
Sessions are structured as animal-assisted wellness activities: instructor-led gentle yoga with supervised puppy interaction, distinct from formal animal-assisted therapy, which is a credentialed clinical modality.
Why Time With Animals Helps
Spending time with friendly animals tends to settle the nervous system: people relax, soften, and connect more easily. In early recovery, when the body is often stuck in alarm, that settling matters.
Clinical detail
NIH-supported research on human-animal interaction associates time with companion animals with reduced stress responses and improved mood, summarized in the NIH News in Health overview of the health effects of pets. Everwell presents these findings as supportive context, not a treatment claim.
Practicing Joy on Purpose
Early recovery can feel flat while the brain relearns ordinary pleasure. Play is practice: a safe, sober experience of delight that the week can be built around.
Clinical detail
Scheduled positive experiences support behavioral activation and the recovery of natural reward responsiveness in early recovery, complementing the clinical work in individual and group therapy.
Always a Choice
Participation is optional, always. Allergies, a fear of dogs, or simply preferring the regular yoga class are all respected without question.
Clinical detail
Sessions are scheduled wellness activities with animal welfare and client comfort as fixed constraints: supervised interaction, opt-in participation, and alternatives available at the same hour.
Puppy yoga is a wellness activity that complements clinical treatment; it does not replace therapy, medical care, or medication. Participation is always optional.

Questions About Puppy Yoga
Do I need yoga experience for puppy yoga?
None at all. The movement is gentle and beginner-friendly, and honestly, the puppies make sure nobody takes the poses too seriously.
What if I am allergic to or uncomfortable around dogs?
Then you simply skip it, no questions asked. Participation is optional and alternative wellness activities run alongside it.
Is puppy yoga actually therapy?
It is a wellness activity, not a clinical therapy, and we are careful about that distinction. It runs alongside your clinical treatment as one of the ways Everwell builds safe, sober joy into the week.
