Family Therapy
Addiction is systemic, not isolated. It reshapes families, and families shape recovery. Family therapy at Everwell will be led by licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) who work with the whole system, so the home you return to reinforces recovery instead of straining it.

What This Work Looks Like
Treating the System, Not Just the Person
When one person struggles with substances, the people around them adapt, often in ways that unintentionally keep the problem going. Family therapy makes those patterns visible and changeable.
Clinical detail
Therapists apply family-systems frameworks including Structural Family Therapy, CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), and psychoeducation.
Rebuilding Boundaries and Communication
Sessions restructure the roles and boundaries that got tangled, moving conversations from blame and crisis management toward honesty that actually connects.
Clinical detail
Work targets boundary restructuring, communication skills, and codependency patterns, shifting the system from enabling and enmeshment toward supportive autonomy.
Educating the Support Network
Families do better when they understand what addiction is, what recovery asks, and what genuinely helps. Education replaces guesswork with a shared playbook.
Clinical detail
Psychoeducation covers the nature of substance use disorders, relapse dynamics, and concrete recovery-supportive behaviors for the family to practice.
Whoever 'Family' Means to You
Sessions may include spouses, parents, adult children, siblings, or other significant relationships: the people who make up your real support system, whatever it looks like.

Questions About Family Therapy
Does my family have to participate?
Family involvement is encouraged because it measurably supports recovery, but it's shaped around your situation and consent. Nothing is imposed.
Can sessions happen remotely?
Where clinically appropriate, family sessions can be coordinated to include loved ones who can't attend in person. The admissions team can walk through the options.
